In 2018 we travelled to Costa Rica and shortly afterwards I visited Mexico. The intensity of colour, not just in visuals but in atmosphere of these places stayed with me. Maybe just the sense of desiring something new and vibrant I started this in Mexico and returned to England wondering just where this brightness would fit within my usual muted palette. Turns out I didn’t want to adjust it much! The grey blue is soft enough to act as balance and it deserves to live with that streak of bold daring which created it.
