This landscape started life back in 2016 as one of a pair for a commission. The rich plum and moss greens bring a softness to what can be a challenging landscape of North Dartmoor, but also a place of wild beauty. Working on two allows different paintings to develop and each painting find its voice. I came back to this one this summer after recent paintings using more fluid paint, and it settled into a new version. Seems appropriate for a landscape which evolves over time!
