Aiming to be a little more colour conscious! These all feel new to me which is good. I suppose I want to avoid falling into habit traps, while also still feel like me.

So I used some of the pre-mixed colours I created and also had a palette of the “raw” colours out as well. Then I just played with the tape method I think I first saw @louisefletcher_art do (she has a free taster course coming soon - not sure if this idea is in it, but lots of other things will be!)

It’s always good to pull the tape back and see what’s created. I actually like the rather dark one bottom left so that will need to work it’s way in as I take these rather ice-cream mixes into the bigger paintings....

Experiment! I don’t usually pre-mix colour at all, I just work instinctively and see what emerges. BUT when I stopped to think about it I do have a kind of system....

I just hadn’t ever identified it. So now I’m testing it. At the moment it’s called colour-piggy-backing 😀

I’ll let you know if it helps at all, but today I had a glorious time mixing all these and more so that I have some rich and harmonious skeleton colours I want to see more of in the next phase.

Not sure I’ve mixed enough - but then I get to do it all again 😁

Lovely visit today to deliver this painting in person, still always a bit heart-in-mouth in case it’s “oh - it’s not quite as X as I was expecting”

Soooo much better to be there to unwrap it and hear the sigh of “oh, it’s so beautiful” It’s a bit nerve-wracking buying art online, but the reality and depth of colour is always better in person.
Phew!
