What was I thinking?
Can I really bear to leave these bright colours in my feed? 😱 Today we made it to episode 52 of the podcast - can’t quite believe it’s been a year! .

Today, we’re talking about Daring (and overcoming imaginary art critics with notebooks) ... If you swipe you can see the painting I mention, which is much more in my colour zone but took a jump start to get it going again recently.

What’s the number 1 reason you are on Instagram? For me, it’s that fabulous overlap with other creatives - and also because at the time (June 2014) I had a crappy phone (didn’t we all?) and kept running out of photo storage! Swipe to see my second ever post when I was exploring printmaking.

Doing the #2020cotfachallenge because seeing @marissahuber on stories always brightens my day and their whole ethos @carveouttimeforart is just so essential.

So, introductions: I’m a bit of a board game geek, I used to keep a record of every novel I read (not much of a social life when I was 13!) and I can’t quite believe I have a son who is officially a grown-up when I’m not sure I’ve got there myself yet! The other one is 15 and currently cross with me because I messed up her fringe. 😱😩😤😭

No laughing gas was used in the making of these photos!
Just over a year ago some of us met for the first ever Connected Artist meet-up. There were 8 of us (swipe right) - just some of the few who trusted me enough as I started this club from nothing.
Today some of us met again - 38 of the now 124 artists who are taking this journey together.
Someone asked today if I feel proud to have created this. And the truth is - I do. To be able to create a space where people show up for each other, share challenges openly, aren’t afraid of their ambition or what there is to learn. Even if we are still afraid of tackling certain paintings(!) .
To meet in person and hear what a difference this is making for people is actually very humbling.

Things don’t always go to plan, or come easy but this is important - to spark that creative energy, build confidence and see people’s dreams flourish is amazing. Thank you Connected Artists!! (Tomorrow (Saturday) I will be opening some places again.. you need to be on the email list in my bio to get the link.) x

It’s tough working on your own... I did my own work review yesterday and it REALLY helped me go back in, make decisions and get pieces finished or closer to where I want them to be.

This morning we had a work review call in my Connected Artist club - we looked at issues four members were having, came up with title ideas, discussed tools for bigger (huge!) work, and how to develop a new approach alongside existing good sellers.

This is just a small part of what we do together! I’m opening some places on Saturday but the link won’t be here - you must be on the info list.... Dreaming of a bigger studio space? I was for years... and yet I was quite happy at home in many ways. New blog post about what I’ve learnt from the first few months in my new space.
Maybe too many blues going on? Could be one thing!

Home visit! When I took this painting over, the walls were cream... it would be a lie to say they chose the wall colour to suit the painting because it was already selected. But how perfect is this?! Thank you Jenny for sending me this image. Also, soooo interesting to me as I feel we all have our own colour personalities.

It comes out in our homes, clothes we choose as well as art. Do you agree?
