Landscape Unlocked
We live within landscapes of our own construction; what we choose to notice, what we allow to remain and what we cover over.
This page shows selected work from 2016 – 2017 with a more expressive approach to painting, conveying the emotion we feel rather than representing a specific place. Using the recognised language of landscape such as horizon lines and boundaries, I’m also combining viewpoints of those we see in aerial views and mixing a sense of distance and close up views. This can bring a more intriguing sense of space and also allows a complex web of history and texture to build up within each painting.

“This is what abstraction can do – there are so many suggestions and endless enrichment. We have been enthusing over our new acquisition and our friends loved the picture too.”
