Grounded

A painting is a record of process, of marks and thoughts, ideas which arrive and shift away, replaced. A record of movement and struggle with paint which emerges into a new and unplanned object.

These landscape grounded paintings are about the texture of paint, using both thicker gestural makes and building thin delicate layers to create a tension and transition where movement crosses space.

Decorate the Silence

I’ve been working back on canvas again which has lead to some gentler building of colour. As I move into the new studio space I have 550sq ft to stretch out and view many paintings at once. I need a calmness and softer approach in the work, but I’m still looking to be surprised.
