The first three months…
The first three months were a blast! I may be in a slight number muddle but on the occasional day when life and family has overtaken I just picked up and kept going. Initially I was just settling into a routine and getting used the idea of sharing my thoughts and processes. You can see that sometimes there is focus and other days I’m testing new ideas and processes.
April Colour
After the first two months I wanted to set myself a challenge and a more constricted task each day; the initial brief seemed too broad. So I set myself the challenge of using just three colours each day, to mix a palette and complete a small postcard sized painting to explore how some of those colours worked together.
What next?
I’ve learnt that I’m great at updating daily to Instagram! It’s a fun way to get a shot of inspiration and feedback…(you can find me here) but changing file names and sizes and uploading to this website each day is becoming tricky for me to fit in. Plus, I’m realising this could be more interesting to read about if the daily images were used in longer posts to talk about what I’m exploring. That way you can also contribute to discussions on colour and composition or whatever is coming next…
- images of larger paintings as they develop (even the bad days!)
- sketchbook drawings
- quotes and excerpts from books I’m reading for inspiration
- photographs that inspire me
- practical stuff like framing, choosing materials, finding the time
So although I will continue adding to the gallery here (although as it grows this may get pretty cumbersome!) but in future watch out for more blog posts appearing.
At the end of April I started to do a monthly art giveaway to thank you all for your support and interest. This kicked off with the postcards from month of April Colour but will continue each month: I will use a random selector from all the people on my mailing list, so if you’d like to keep up to date and be in with a chance of something beautiful in your mail box.
Yes, your real, hands on, postman delivered mailbox!
