Contemporary landscape paintings
I find my paintings and drawings exist as a moment of calm, or a balance between considered restraint and instinct. They often begin with sketchbook drawings done after walks on Dartmoor. Some are a specific place, but more usually it’s a looser sense of the space I’m trying to recreate within a small scale that brings a sense of intimacy to the paintings. I often incorporate small drawn marks which bring a directness and a contrast to the more gestural painted elements.
